A Week-Ending Update
Here we are – finally Friday. This has been a rather hectic week for me, but ultimately a rewarding one as well. Little Anda has yet to arrive but I think the birth is fairly imminent. While shopping Wednesday evening, Joy experienced some pain “from the baby” – pain that continued throughout the day yesterday. I took these to mean that she was having contractions but they are not yet close enough together to necessitate going to the hospital. She slept fitfully last night but seems comfortable enough thus far this morning.
For my part, I’m relatively calm. My only anxiety comes from the waiting and hoping that Anda arrives soon. I worry a bit that Joy will be too busy or in too much pain to call me if I’m at work; that task would then fall to one of her relatives (who don’t speak English at all and seem reluctant to try and talk to me on the phone). All of my supervisors are aware that the call could come at any time; in the P3 classrooms, the homeroom teacher is always there so no worries in that regard. My level coordinator has asked that I just send him an SMS if I have to leave and the HR director has told me that taking care of my family comes first.
